Mother's Day

A discussion I have had with several friends revolves around the term, "mother." We ask, when does a woman become a mother? And perhaps, the same comes up for men, when does a man become a father? Well several agreed that the timing differs between men and women. For a woman, she becomes a mother at the moment she sees the positive HPT. And of course, there are women out there who consider themselves a mom who do not fit in this category. However, for some men, they do not consider themselves a parent until the child is actually born or actually parenting a child. This has been an issue for many women on this day.

On this day there are many women with tears, not of joy, but of depression and grief. They may have lost a child, never been able to conceive a child, or just lost a mother (or mothering figure). This day should be a remembrance of all women who have mothered a child for just a moment or years. For the women who sacrifice their time to help other families in need or mentoring the 12 year old at a local school.

Here's to you moms---

Cheers.
